The library is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mr. Riccardi holds a Master Degree of Library Studies from Rutgers University and a Master Degree of Public Administration from John Jay College - CUNY.

The librarian is available to help students with their homework, research or in selecting appropriate online resources. Students are encouraged to read for pleasure and the school library selects fiction and non fiction books that are interesting as well as entertaining. Our goal is to encourage students to enjoy reading.“Students who excel academically read extensively.” (Dr. Ben Carson) Because we value the importance of reading in the academic development of our students, the Summer Reading Program is required for all of our students. Parents are encouraged to participate by reading the required books and discussing the books with their son.

The library provides a comprehensive collection of instructional materials to support the curriculum in many formats – video, audio, print and online resources. Activities, workshops and exhibits are promoted for professional development and to enrich the student curriculum. The Rice High School Library facilitates field trips so that the incredible array of resources available to us in New York City is part of the Rice educational experience. Every year we take classes to the museums, theater, research libraries, author lectures, poetry readings, science fairs that are available to us. “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” (Malcolm X)
