Tuition
Rice High School depends primarily on tuition to meet its financial
obligations. Our budget is very carefully constructed and accurately
reflects the needs of the school for the current year. The prompt
and complete payment of tuition is essential for the school to operate.
The tuition for the school year 2007 - 2008 is $5,550. There is
a General Student Fee of $500 to be paid by each
student for supplies and services rendered to them by Rice High
School. This fee is non-refundable.
The first tuition payment for students in grades10 - 12 is due in
August depending on your SMART tuition plan. The General
Fee payment of $500 which is necessary for re-registration is due
by July 10th, 2007.
Rice High School utilizes SMART Tuition Management Services to handle tuition collection for the school. The SMART system allows 2 alternatives:
- Money is automatically deducted from your bank account on a set date
- You are given a coupon book for monthly payments Your check or money order is mailed with the coupon directly to SMART. There is a $30.00 SMART service charge for individuals using automatic deduction method, and a $35.00 SMART service charge for individuals using a coupon payment book. Please note that SMART charges a $10.00 penalty for late payments and a $20.00 fee for dishonored checks.
All financial obligations must be met before exams are taken, report cards issued, diplomas given or transcripts released.
Scholarships & Financial Aid
Academic Awards: Academic Scholarships are awarded each year to incoming freshmen with high scores on the T.A.C.H.S. Entrance Exam. These scholarships are equal to one-half the published tuition, not including fees.
A student must achieve at least Second Honors (an average of 85% with no grade lower than 80%) in the current academic year to maintain the scholarship.
Any student who achieves High Honors (average 95% with no grade lower than 90%) or Fist Honors (an average of 90% with no grade lower than 85% on the final report card), will be awarded an Academic Scholarship for the following academic year.
Financial Aid: This aid is distributed on the basis of demonstrated financial need. To apply, a family must file a Private School Aid form (there is a $12.00 application fee). There are a limited number of grants available and a grant never exceeds one half of the published tuition. The filing deadline is August 1st. Awards are made as funds become available. There is no guarantee that a family will receive aid.
Main Office
The school office is open from 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
on all school days during the academic year. During July and August
office hours are from 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There are no office

of School, Assistant Head of School, Dean, guidance personnel, or
teachers is asked to call and make an appointment for a mutually
convenient time.
Personal Information & Records
The home phone number of each student must be on file in the Main Office. Parents and students must notify the Main Office of any change of address or phone number. Parents are asked to supply a business phone where they can be reached in case of emergency.
Messages may be left for students to be picked up in the Main Office. Students will NOT be called down to answer phone calls during the school day.
School Lockers and Locks
Each student will be assigned a school locker. The locker is to be used for outer clothing, books, and other necessary school items. School lockers are property of the school and are subject to inspection at any time by the school administration. Locks are to be purchased from the bookstore. Any other lock will be removed from the locker immediately. Students are reminded to be extremely concious of locker security. Make certain that your locker is secured and locked before leaving your locker. Students are permitted to go to their lockers before and after school and before lunch. At no time should a student visit his locker during regular classes.
The school assumes no liability for the loss, theft and/or destruction of personal property. However, all missing articles from lockers are to be reported directly to the Dean. |
